Terms of Service

1. The Service

GIF Converter is a free, browser-based tool for converting and compressing image and video files. It uses FFmpeg WebAssembly to process files locally on your device. The Service is provided at no cost and does not require registration.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service at any time without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.

2. Your Use of the Service

You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You agree not to use the Service to:

• — Process, distribute, or create derivative works of files you do not have the legal right to use, modify, or distribute.
• — Violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation.
• — Infringe on the intellectual property rights of any person or entity.
• — Attempt to gain unauthorized access to, interfere with, or disrupt any part of the Service.

3. Your Files and Content

You are solely responsible for the files you process using the Service. Because all processing occurs locally in your browser and we receive no file uploads, we have no ability to review, moderate, or take responsibility for the content of any files you process.

You represent and warrant that: (a) you have all necessary rights, licenses, or permissions to process any file you submit to the Service; and (b) your use of the Service does not infringe any third-party intellectual property rights.

4. No Warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. WE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that defects will be corrected. We do not warrant that any output files produced by the Service will be suitable for any particular purpose or meet any specific quality standard.

5. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL GIF CONVERTER, ITS OPERATORS, OR CONTRIBUTORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED ZERO DOLLARS (US $0.00), AS THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE.

6. Intellectual Property

The GIF Converter website, including its design, text, and code, is the property of its operators. The FFmpeg library used by the Service is licensed under the LGPL 2.1 or later. The FFmpeg WASM port is licensed under the LGPL 3.0 or later. These open-source licenses require that we make our FFmpeg usage available to users, which we do by serving the compiled WASM binaries from the same origin as the website.

You retain all intellectual property rights to any files you process using the Service. We make no claim to ownership of any content you process.

7. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
