Privacy Policy

1. No Personal Data Collected

We do not collect, store, or process any personally identifiable information. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any account information. You can use every feature of GIF Converter without providing any personal data whatsoever.

There is no registration, no login, no profile, and no session associated with you. Each visit to the site is stateless from our perspective.

2. Your Files Are Processed Locally

All file processing — GIF compression, video conversion, image transformation — occurs entirely within your browser using FFmpeg compiled to WebAssembly. Your files are never uploaded to any server.

When you select a file in the editor, it is read from your local file system into your browser's memory using the browser's built-in File API. Processing happens in a Web Worker thread on your device. The output file is written to browser memory and downloaded directly to your device. At no point does any file content, file name, or file metadata travel over the internet.

This is architecturally enforced, not just a policy promise. The server that hosts this website has no endpoint that accepts file uploads. Even if you wanted to send us a file, there is no mechanism to do so.

3. Cookies

We do not set any tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or persistent session cookies. The website may use browser-standard session behavior (such as caching the FFmpeg WASM binary after the first load for faster subsequent use), but this is handled entirely by your browser's native caching mechanism and is not associated with any identifier.

If you see cookies set by this domain in your browser's developer tools, they are set by your browser's caching layer, not by any deliberate action on our part. You can clear them at any time without affecting your ability to use the site.

4. Analytics

We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Hotjar, FullStory, or any other behavioral analytics service that tracks individual users across sessions or sites.

If we add any analytics in the future, it will be privacy-respecting, aggregate-only analytics (such as Plausible or Fathom) that does not use cookies, does not track individuals, and does not share data with advertising networks. Any such addition will be reflected in an update to this policy.

5. Third-Party Services

The website is hosted on a standard web hosting provider. The hosting provider may collect standard server logs (IP address, request timestamp, requested URL, user agent) as part of normal infrastructure operation. These logs are retained per the hosting provider's standard data retention policy and are not used by us for any tracking purpose.

We do not use third-party advertising networks, social media pixels, affiliate tracking, or any service that would share information about your visit with a third party for advertising purposes.

6. Children's Privacy

GIF Converter is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Because we collect no personal information from anyone, this is not a practical concern, but we want to be explicit about it.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the tool's functionality or applicable law. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will note them prominently on the homepage.

Because we do not collect email addresses, we cannot notify you directly of policy changes. We recommend bookmarking this page if staying current with policy changes matters to you.
